How to Upload Files to Trackmymail.com : EMD File What is the EMD (Electronic Mailing Data)? It is very important to note that the entry scan does not influence or affect the results of the Planet CodeŽ scans of your mail pieces .Failure to create an EMD file, or failure by the Postal Service to scan your entry form will not impact Planet CodeŽ scan performance. We handle the EMD process for single drops What happens with multiple drops: When you are dropping Planet Coded mail at multiple USPS facilities, you may generate a barcoded Shipment ID on your 8125 which will be scanned as each facility accepts your mail. An 8125 must be created for each drop point, including a uniquely barcoded shipment id for each facility. The output file that tells the USPS about these shipments is called an EMD file. Trackmymail.com can receive information from the USPS about these entry scans, and post the results into your job. We must first receive the EMD file from you that we will submit to the USPS. You may provide EMD information for multiple drops as 1.)an EMD output file or 2.) the completed EMD spreadsheet which we provide with your order confirmation when you tell us you have multiple drops in your mailing. The USPS has very specific format requirements for the EMD file. If you are not completing the TMM spreadsheet, you may use the EMD output from software which provides this option. Windowbook, Monticello and Firstlogic are among the software providers who can successfully output EMD files for multiple drops. Creating your Shipment ID for EMD’s: Please note if you are using third party software to create your own Shipment ID, use Trackmymail.com’s 9 digit DUNS number in both the Shipment ID and the column which asks for the Mailer’s DUNS. That number is 623176609. When do I submit the EMD file to Trackmymail.com?
